Central and East Northamptonshire Citizens Advice Bureau is a new charity, formed from the merger of Northampton and District and Nene Valley Citizens Advice Bureau. We serve the majority of Northamptonshire and our aims are to provide advice to people for the problems they face - and to exert a responsible influence and policies, both nationally and locally. Our services are free and provided by a combination of volunteers and paid staff. As well as our general services, we also offer a range of specialist services and projects.

Have you just called us and you can't get through ?
More people attempt to contact us by telephone than by any other channel and, as a charity staffed, by volunteers we have not yet devised the means by which we can support sufficient volunteers to answer all the calls we receive. Therefore before contacting us on our adviceline or if having tried (but failed) to get through consider the following alternative options ...
We offer a range of ways in which you can seek the help you need. Please remember however, that we are a charity and unable to offer direct help to everyone who needs it, as our service is considerably oversubscribed. Accordingly, for simple problems you may in the first instance like to use adviceguide - our free, public access website - avialable 24/7 and providing information about many of the "frequently asked questions" encountered by our clients.
Most Citizens Advice Bureau use a combination of paid staff and volunteers to provide a mix of services to the community. Volunteers are therefore essential and we therefore recruit volunteers throughout the year - to train to a range of roles.
Common to all volunteering roles is an expectation from us of a considerable degree of commitment. Whilst some flexibility is possible, the requirements of running a professional and reliable service, is such that our volunteers must treat the commitment they give to us in a similar way to a paid job.
Across the country, there are more than 10 million adults who don’t use computers and the internet, and they are missing out on all the opportunities and benefits that the digital revolution can bring to their lives. Our UK Online Centre provides opportunities for total novices to start using computers and the internet, with training and help along the way. The overall aim of the scheme is to enable easy access to information, to savings and conveniences, to new or better jobs, and to email contact with friends, family and others.
